Khaled Hosseini, in a guest post here on the Blue Key blog, pointed out that,  ”Anyone can be a refugee.” No child grows up anticipating they will be forced to leave everything they know and love behind. He certainly didn’t.

This year, the UNHCR Goodwill Envoy and acclaimed author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns lends his voice to UNHCR’s World Refugee Day global social advocacy campaign, “Dilemmas.”

This worldwide effort aims to help fight intolerance and xenophobia against refugees by emphasizing the   heart-wrenching decision one must make when his or her life is at stake.

No one chooses to be a refugee.

World Refugee Day is on Wednesday, June 20th. Sign the World Refugee Day pledge and tell the world that you care about the desperate plight of refugees around the world.

And please remember to wear your Blue Key on Wednesday! It’s a great way to fulfill the promise you made in the pledge.

“No one chooses to be a refugee.” Agree or disagree? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
