Giving Thanks One #bluekey at a Time

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we’ve decided to share the spirit of giving by holding two exciting Blue Key events exactly a week from the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. We hope you will join us on Thursday, November 17 for our fourth #BlueKey Tweetathon from 9am-9pm ET, and our fourth #BlueKey Tweetup at Mavelous Restaraunt in San Francisco, CA from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

#BlueKey Tweetathon:

If you missed our previous #BlueKey tweetathons it works like this: Just like in a good old-fashioned telethon, we’re going to talk #bluekey all the way from 9 am – 9 pm ET that day. Participate online at http://twitter.com/search/%23bluekey

To prepare, just make sure you’re following @UNRefugeeAgency (that’s us). Then, whenever you can during the day, just sign into Twitter and follow the #bluekey hashtag to participate in the conversation.

We’re especially excited that Andrew Purvis (@andrewcpurvis) will be joining the tweetathon from 12-1 pm ET. Andrew is with UNHCR and will be sharing stories from the field, much as he does from time to time on this blog.

And, as much as possible during the tweetathon, do encourage your Twitter followers to get their own $5 #bluekey and one for a friend and make a difference to refugees worldwide. What better way to give back this Thanksgiving?

The Blue Key tweetup is a celebration of the refugee spirit where you’ll also have the opportunity to network with other people passionate about the cause and meet some of our Blue Key Champions. The tweetup follows a typical tweetup format, with casual networking as the only agenda item.

For those of you in the San Francisco area please join us in celebrating the refugee spirit at Mavelous restaraunt in San Francisco, CA on November 17 from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

If you’ve never been to a tweetup before – don’t be afraid to join us! A tweetup is just an excuse for people who share common interests online to catch up with each other face to face.
