Infographic: World Refugee Day By The Numbers
World Refugee Day, June 20, is a time to reflect on the more than 15 million people around the world who have been forced from their countries by war, conflict and disaster.
Refugees have no choice: they’re forced to flee their homes and everything they hold dear.
It’s easy to hear numbers like 15 million thrown around. But do you know what that really means? Check out this infographic from TakePart.com that translates the number 15 million into a comprehensible quantity.
In addition to the 15 million refugees worldwide, there are also some 27.5 million internally displaced people, and 850,000 asylum-seekers — in all, 43.7 million people who have been forced from their homes.
Here are many easy ways that you can help refugees on June 20th:
- Take the pledge and stand with Angelina Jolie to support refugees.
- Text REFUGEES to 50555 to donate $10 to USA for UNHCR. (terms mgive.com/t)
