CNN’s Erin Burnett recently interviewed UNHCR staff about the Malian Refugee Camps. Rather than progressing in a positive direction, the UNHCR has revealed that the crisis in Mali is a “humanitarian crisis.” One of the UNHCR staffers declared that water sanitation is becoming a life-threatening problem.

“We have great risks right now with water sanitation and hygiene as well. Programs that were funded to respond for the first three months, they are now no longer seeking funding, which means the latrines are being shut down, and we need to just rebuild enough toilets to meet the status quo. So within a few months, we won’t have enough toilets, enough water, enough sanitation programs, and enough food.”
